Feyisayo Ogedengbe, an auxiliary nurse, appeared before a coroner’s inquest investigating the demise of Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely recognized as Mohbad, the late Nigerian artist.
Her testimony unfolded at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, on a Saturday, shedding light on the events surrounding the singer’s death.
Ogedengbe recounted her nursing education at Cornerstone Hospital in Akute, Ogun State, spanning 2014 to 2017, followed by a year of service there before moving away.

She explained that on September 11, 2023, a client named Ayobami Sodiq, alias ‘Spending,’ reached out, requesting she administer a tetanus shot to a friend with a hand injury, possibly involving embedded glass.
Traffic delays prevented her from attending that day, but she arrived the following afternoon, September 12, at Orchid Estate in Lekki, only then realizing her patient was Mohbad.
In the singer’s home, she met Mohbad, his wife, and Ayobami. Observing swelling in Mohbad’s lower right hand, she administered a tetanus injection in his upper arm.

Considering his ulcer history, she opted against diclofenac, instead giving him paracetamol. “I gave Mohbad 4ml of paracetamol and 1ml of water, a total of 5ml which is the normal dosage for adults, and I gave him intravenous (through the vein),” she detailed.
She added that she diluted a 10ml ceftriaxone injection for slow administration to address pain and potential infection.
During the ceftriaxone dose, after 2ml, Mohbad expressed a need to vomit, prompting her to halt the injection. He returned from the bathroom, sat on the floor, and displayed goosebumps, which his wife dismissed as a typical reaction treatable with water.
However, as his condition worsened, they sought a pharmacy for hydrocortisone and saline to counter an allergic reaction and dehydration.
Their efforts were thwarted by unavailable supplies and traffic, and upon returning, Mohbad was already outside, convulsing, and soon pronounced dead at a hospital despite CPR attempts.
The inquest, adjourned to March 21, 2025, continues to unravel this tragic sequence.
